Neustroev, Aleksandr Nikolaevich

    0.01 sec.
Neustroev, Aleksandr Nikolaevich

Born Nov. 14 (26), 1825, in Kronstadt; died Mar. 13 (26), 1902, St. Petersburg. Russian bibliographer and bibliophile.

Neustroev compiled a unique library containing more than 100,000 books and manuscripts in Russian and other Slavic languages, part of which he later donated to scholarly societies and state book repositories. A posthumous catalog of the 2,500 remaining books—Materials for the Catalog of Books, Manuscripts, Engravings, and the Remaining Collection of A. N. Neustroev (1902)—was published.

Neustroev was the author of the basic work Historical Survey of Russian Periodical Publications and Collections for 1703–1802, Described Bibliographically and in Chronological Order (1875), which contained 138 titles of Russian periodicals of the 18th century. The survey indicated the periodicals’ frequency and place of publication as well as their editors, publishers, and most important contributors. It included historical information and an analytical table of contents. In 1898, Neustroev’s Index of Russian Periodical Publications and Collections for 1703–1802 and of the Historical Survey of Them was published.
