Plentiful iron ore, vast coniferous forests, a ready supply of labour and a network of waterways through the lakes to the Neva river and the Baltic encouraged Peter to establish an arms workshop on the Lake Onega shore to supply cannons and balls for his wars against the Swedes. The two Russias briefly came together inside a thick-walled fortress on the bank of the Neva River, where the remains of Nicholas, most of his family and four of his servants were lowered into a single white crypt in Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral. Petersburg will feature 322 guest rooms and with its two specialty restaurants, a 14,000 square foot spa, indoor swimming pool and a unique river boat service that transports guests back in time along the famed Neva River - it provides an ideal infrastructure for a stimulating guest experience. |
