New Albany

New Albany, city (1990 pop. 36,322), seat of Floyd co., S Ind., near the falls of the Ohio River opposite Louisville, Ky.; inc. 1819. The city was a shipbuilding center in the 19th cent., and the riverboats Robert E. Lee and Eclipse were built there. Its industries produce wood and paper products, apparel, electronic and transportation equipment, chemicals, and other products. Indiana Univ. Southeast is located there. Bridges link New Albany with Louisville.

Opening batsmen Akhtar Baloch and Mansoor Pasha got off to a flying start against the useful New Albany opening bowlers, with Mansoor making a rapid 41 from just 28 balls before departing while going for one big shot too many.
New Albany won the 2006 Community Legacy Award from Historic Southern Indiana, an outreach program of the University of Southern Indiana, for its work to preserve, enhance and promote its heritage.
The HUD program is no better in New Albany, Indiana, where I live, as it is more of a benevolent association for the slumlords.
