New Construction Materials, Institute of 

(full name, All-Union Research, Planning, and Design Institute of New Construction Materials), an institute under the Ministry of the Construction-materials Industry of the USSR. Established in Moscow in 1939, from the Scientific Research Institute for New Construction Materials, Finishing, and Building Equipment. The institute has laboratories for production technology and general research, experimental shops, and a pilot plant. The institute develops production technology for polymeric materials, roofing materials, and waterproofing materials, and also the technical requirements for the design of equipment, machines, and instruments. The institute has a graduate school. The scientific board of the institute confers candidate’s degrees. The results of research are published in the journal Polimernye stroitel’nye materialy (Polymer Construction Materials).
