New York University

New York University, mainly in New York City; coeducational; chartered 1831, opened 1832 as the Univ. of the City of New York, renamed 1896. It comprises 13 schools and colleges, maintaining 4 main centers (including the Medical Center) in the city, as well as the Institute of Environmental Medicine at Sterling Forest, N.Y. Its research units also include the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, the Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, and the Institute of Finance. Its library's special holdings include the Tamiment Library of American Radical History and the Wagner Labor Archives. Among its other facilities in the city are Town Hall (a concert hall operated by the university since 1958) and a well-known fine arts center.
New York University - (NYU) Established in 1831, New York University today includes thirteen schools, colleges and divisions located in New York City's borough of Manhattan, as well as research centers and programs in the surrounding suburbs and abroad.

He is also a board member for The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, Mayor Bloomberg's Commission on Economic Opportunity, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York University, The New York Center for Autism, The Alliance for Downtown New York and The Partnership for New York City.
Over the past 25 years, he was a trustee or board member of nonprofit organizations such as the New York University Graduate School of Business Advisory Board, the YMCA of Greater New York and the New York State Crime Commission.
Kirby has an active staff education program as well as academic affiliations with several metropolitan area universities including the New York University School of Medicine.
