Netzahualcóyotl (nātsäwälkō`yōtəl), city (1990 pop. 1,255,456), Mexico state, S central Mexico. It is a one of Mexico City's largest and poorest suburban municipalities. The city is officially named Ciudad Netzahualcóyotl. NetzahualcóyotlCity (pop., 2000: 1,225,083), central Mexico. It is a suburb of Mexico City and is one of Mexico's largest municipalities. Settlement began just after 1900, when Lake Texcoco was reduced in size and large areas of land were uncovered along the southern shore.
