Nezhevenko, Grigorii Semenovich 

Born Sept. 9 (22), 1912, at the Golta railroad station, present-day Pervomaisk, Nikolaev Oblast, Lathe operator and innovator at the V. I. Lenin Machine-tool Plant in Odessa. Member of the CPSU since 1943; one of the initiators of high-speed cutting of metals as an industrial production process.

From 1948 to 1953, Nezhevenko proposed a number of improvements in the design of cutting tools for lathes and developed highly productive methods of metalworking based on the use of various devices and attachments and on the principle of standardization of technological processes for short-run and unit production. The introduction of advanced labor methods proposed by Nezhevenko made possible a substantial reduction in the time required for machining of parts and an improvement in their quality.

Nezhevenko took part in the organization at the plant of one of the first Institutes for Advanced Labor Methods, which was free and voluntary (late 1958). He was a delegate at the Twenty-second Congress of the CPSU (1961). He has been a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Ukraine since 1956 and was a deputy of the fourth convocation of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR (1950). He has been awarded the Order of the October Revolution and the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
