Ngami

a lake in the delta of the Okavango River, in Botswana. Lake Ngami is approximately 60 km long and 6–16 km wide. It is located in the Kalahari Desert, about 900 m above sea level. The saltwater lake was discovered in 1849 by D. Livingstone. In the 1920’s its tributaries became shallow; as a result the lake contains water only for a short time near the mouth of the Nghabe River. Most of the dried-up portion is covered with grass and shrubs.
