Kasatkin, Ivan Mikhailovich
Born Mar. 30 (Apr. 11), 1880; died May 13, 1938. Soviet Russian writer. Kasatkin was born to a poor peasant family in the village of Baranovitsy, in present-day Kologriv Raion, Kostroma Oblast. He was first published in 1907. His first book of short stories was A Forest Story (1916). During the 1920’s and 1930’s, Kasatkin was the editor of the journals Krasnaia niva (Red Cornfield) and Zemlia sovetskaia (Soviet Land).
