Nicolescu, Miron
Born Aug. 27, 1903, in Giurgiu. Rumanian mathematician. Academician of the Academy of the Socialist Republic of Rumania (1955) and president of the Academy from 1966. In 1948, Nicolescu became director of the Institute of Mathematics of the Academy of the Socialist Republic of Rumania and a professor at the University of Bucharest. He wrote the three-volume work Mathematical Analysis (1957–60), the work Functions of a Real Variable and Elements of Functional Analysis (1962), and a textbook on mathematical analysis (1962–64).
