Nikitin, Sergei Konstantinovich 

Born Oct. 10, 1926, in Kovrov, Vladimir Oblast; died Dec. 18, 1973, in Vladimir. Soviet Russian writer. Member of the CPSU since 1956.

Nikitin graduated from the M. Gorky Institute of Literature in 1952. He began publishing in 1948. He wrote collections of novellas and short stories, including The Return (1952), Seven Elephants (1954), Bonfire in the Wind (1960), Falling Star (1964), and Evening Glow (1970). His works are devoted mainly to life in the Soviet countryside.
