Born Jan. 19, 1910, in Tbilisi. Soviet Georgian ballet dancer and choreographer. People’s Artist of the USSR (1963).

Ramishvili studied at the ballet studio of the Theater of Opera and Ballet in Tbilisi from 1922 to 1927. She subsequently danced in the theater’s ballet company and performed solo dance roles in Georgian operas. From 1936 to 1945 she was principal dancer of the Folk Dance Ensemble of the Georgian Philharmonic Society. From 1945 to 1972, Ramishvili was a soloist with the Folk Dance Ensemble of Georgia; in 1945 she became artistic codirector (with 1.1. Sukhishvili) of this ensemble. Her best productions are distinguished by graphic precision, plasticity, and skillful use of Georgian folk-dance tradition.

Ramishvili has been awarded the State Prize of the USSR (1949) and the Sh. Rustaveli State Prize of the Georgian SSR (1974). She has toured many foreign countries with the ensemble, including Hungary, Austria, Italy, and the USA. She has been awarded the Order of Lenin.
