Nizhnekamsk 

a city established in 1966 under autonomous republic jurisdiction; administrative center of Nizhnekamsk Raion, Tatar ASSR. Located on the left bank of the Kama River, 237 km east of Kazan and 35 km from the Krugloe Pole railroad station. The river port of Nizhnekamsk is known as Krasnyi Kliuch. Population, 86,000 (1973). The city has a petrochemical combine, a tire factory, and a brickworks. Nizhnekamsk also has a branch of the Kazan Chemical-Technological Institute, petrochemical and power engineering technicums, and medical and music schools.
