Nonwoven Textiles, Institute of 

(full name, All-Union Research Institute of Nonwoven Textiles; VNIINTM), an institute under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Light Industry of the USSR. The institute was established in 1963 in the city of Serpukhov from the Serpukhov Research Institute of the Textile Industry. The institute conducts and coordinates research on the development of nonwoven materials—new, progressive textiles that replace sheets made by less productive classical textile methods. The institute publishes the results of its research in the journal Tekstil’naia promyshlennost’ (Textile Industry), in the collections of the Central Research Institute of Information and Technical and Economic Studies of Light Industry, and in Sbornik referatov n.-i. trudov VNIINTM (Collection of Abstracts of Research Works of VNIINTM).
