Noreen, Adolf Gotthard 

Born Mar. 13, 1854, in Östra Ämtervik, Värmland; died June 13, 1925, in Stockholm. Swedish linguist; member of the Swedish Academy (1919). Professor at the University of Uppsala (1887–1919).

Noreen’s basic works concern the history and grammar of the Scandinavian languages. He was a specialist in the theory of grammar and the creator of many linguistic terms. He was the author of the first full multivolume description (not completed) of the Swedish language (Our Language, 1903–25). Noreen was a member of the neogrammarian school.
