It offers access to eight state parks, Superior National Forest, and the 200-mile Superior Hiking Trail, rated one of the most scenic trails in the country. Along the byway, visitors can enjoy water-based recreation including fishing, sailing, kayaking, and excursion boating. On the northern end of the byway, the Grand Portage National Monument features a reconstructed North-West Company fur-trading post. Legth: 154 miles. Start/Endpoint: Follows the shoreline of Lake Superior along SR 61 in northeastern Minnesota from Duluth to Grand Portage near the US-Canadian border. Time to Allow: 3 hours.
