Northwich (nôrth`wĭch), town (1991 pop. 32,664), Cheshire, W central England, at the confluence of the Weaver and Dane rivers. Northwich was once the center of England's salt production; however, the manufacture of chemicals has become its leading occupation. It was the site of a Roman station. The rock-salt fields were used even before the Christian era. Noteworthy is the Northwich salt museum. Northwich a town in NW England, in Cheshire: salt and chemical industries.
