Matveeva, Novella Nikolaevna 

Born Oct. 7, 1934, in the city of Pushkin, Leningrad Oblast. Soviet Russian poet.

Matveeva was first published in 1958. She is the author of the collections of verses Lyrical Verse (1961), The Little Ship (1963), and The Soul of Things (1966), as well as the poem “Peter Breughel the Elder” (1969). In her work she typically uses unusual means to transform the world of everyday objects in a spirit of romantic love of life. Her poetic reflections affirm the heroic energy of man and are often parables and aphorisms. She has also written the words and melodies of lyrical songs.
