Noyce, Robert N. (1927–90) electrical engineer; born in Burlington, Iowa. He founded Fairchild Semiconductor Corp. (1957) and coinvented the integrated circuit with Jack Kilby. He cofounded Intel Corp. (1968), which developed the silicon-gate MOS process that allows several thousand transistors to be integrated on a single silicon chip. |
