Nurdzhanov, Nizam Khabibullaevich 

Born Dec. 18, 1923, in Bukhara. Soviet Tadzhik theater scholar and doctor of the arts (1968). Member of the CPSU since 1948.

In 1947, Nurdzhanov graduated from the department of literature of the Pedagogical Institute in Dushanbe. He began his literary career in 1948. In 1952 he became senior research scholar at the Akhmad Donish Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Tadzhik SSR, and in 1953 head of the institute’s section of art history.

Since 1963, Nurdzhanov has been a teacher. He began teaching in the art department of the Dushanbe T. G. Shevchenko Pedagogical Institute in 1967. His works on the Tadzhik national theater are especially valuable.
