Premixes

enriching mixtures of biologically active substances that are synthesized microbiologically and chemically and that are used to increase the nutritive value of mixed feeds and to improve their effect on farm animals.

There are vitamin, mineral, and therapeutic vitamin premixes. They are composed of a filler (a product capable of dissolving and retaining active substances), such as oat meal, bran, grass meal, oil cake, and yeast, as well as biologically active substances, such as vitamins, trace elements, amino acids, and chemicotherapeutic preparations. Premixes are produced in specialized plants or on special lines of mixed-feed factories. Special premixes have been developed for animals of various species, ages, and production purposes.
