O'Malley, (Francis J.) Frank (1911–74) educator; born in Clinton, Mass. He went to Notre Dame as a student and stayed there for the rest of his life. A legendary professor of English, he was a "Mr. Chips" come to life. He nurtured his students with an idiosyncratic care that included the writing of personal checks to reward good performance.
