Original Equipment Manufacturer
(redirected from OEM software)

Also found in: Dictionary/thesaurus, Financial, Wikipedia 0.01 sec.
(company)Original Equipment Manufacturer - (OEM) A misleading term for a company which repackages equipment, such as computers, made by other companies. Unlike a value added reseller, an OEM does not necessarily add anything except their name to the product. In some cases though they may integrate components into complete systems. OEM arrangements are often made for marketing reasons.

It is no longer a surprise how you often receive spam mails on Viagra, OEM Software and things you do not even need in your inbox.
Some examples of such are: academic software, beta software, bootleg recordings, contracts and tickets, downloadable media, movie prints, OEM software, Replica and counterfeit items, and unauthorized copies.
Free upgrades are not available for purchases made prior to 12 September, or to customers with licences for OEM software bundled with an Apple CPU or hard drive, or those who made their purchase under the French MIPE offer.
