IDC today announced its vendor market share information for the worldwide relational and object-relational database management systems software market, which has garnered much interest over the past year particularly due to the decline of the market in 2002 and complex changes in the economy. Informix will be honored today at a ceremony at DB Expo in New York City, where yesterday it announced availability of INFORMIX-Universal Server, the industry's only open, completely integrated object-relational database management system (ORDBMS). At the Commercial Parallel Processing (CPP) Conference being held here today through Wednesday, Hitachi unveiled the architecture for the THOR Database System, which combines Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) server hardware with the THOR SQL objectManager, a high-performance object-relational database management system. |
