An earlier Windows-based client/server application development system from Byteback Computer Solutions Ltd., Lower Earley, Reading, England. KEY:Assemble applications could access multiple databases, including Oracle and Sybase. Business graphics and spreadsheet capabilities were often included. KEY:Assemble was originally ObjectView from Knowledgeware, which was acquired by Sterling Software. Byteback acquired KEY:Assemble in 1998.

The lack of use of full-blown object technology does not currently doom popular development tools such as PowerBuilder, VisualBasic, SQL Windows and ObjectView.
Packages such as PowerBuilder, SQL Windows, and ObjectView all provide the ability to develop applications that work within windows and with a local database management system.
