On the eve of his historic visit to India in 2006, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia said that "India should have an observer status in the OIC" and it would be "beneficial" if Pakistan proposes India's candidature.
Besides Russia and China, the SCO also includes four ex-Soviet Central Asian countries -- Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan -- while India, Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan have observer status.
Representatives of the Russian Foreign Intelligence, Turkmen National Security Ministry, Uzbek National Security Service, as well as special services of Spain, Italy and France attended the meeting in an observer status.
