Ocheretin, Vadim Kuz’mich
Born June 6, 1921, in Harbin, now part of China. Soviet Russian writer. Member of the CPSU since 1943. Served in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–45. Ocheretin, who began to publish in 1939, graduated from the philological faculty of the Urals State University in 1948. His first novella was Motherland, I Am Yours! (1950). The principal theme of his novels The First Dare (1953), The Salamander (1958), The Siren (1962), and In Love Three Times (1970) is the everyday life of workers in the Ural region. In 1968, Ocheretin became editor in chief of the journal Ural. Several of his works have been translated into foreign languages. Ocheretin has been awarded four orders and various medals.
