Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area


Location:35 miles east of Julian via Highway 78, or about 20 miles west of Highway 86.
Facilities:Picnic tables, pay showers; no drinking water.
Activities:Tent camping, ORV riding.
Special Features:Ocotillo Wells SVRA is a motorcycle, four-wheel drive, all-terrain vehicle, and dune buggy use area, with more than 70,000 acres of desert available for off-highway exploration and recreation. The wash-and-ridge terrain includes a butte with dunes and a sand bowl, a blow-sand dune, springs, and a camp on a former homestead site. Area is adjacent to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park (see separate entry).
