    0.01 sec.
Oertel’s Treatment

(in Russian, terrenkur), a method of treatment used at sanatoriums and health resorts and consisting of mountain-climbing exercises on marked-out routes. The exercises are under careful controls, with prescribed distances and walking speeds. The treatment develops physical endurance, improves the cardiovascular and respiratory functions, stimulates the metabolic process, and has a beneficial effect on the nervous system and the psyche. Treatment is supervised by a physician. Depending on the condition for which treatment is sought, specific limits are set on the extent of the treatment.
