Officers’ Graduate Studies 

one of the basic forms for training scientific and scientific-instructor personnel in higher military schools and scientific research institutions of the USSR Armed Forces. Established in 1938. Students are recruited exclusively from the officer corps. The purposes of study in officers’ graduate studies are to master scientific research methods, to acquire all-round knowledge in the selected scientific specialty, and to defend a dissertation for the scientific degree of candidate of sciences. The rules for acceptance to officers’ graduate studies, the period of instruction, and the forms and methods of training graduate officer students are basically analogous to those established for study in graduate schools.
