Osumi

 

a strait between the southern tip of the island of Kyushu (the southernmost of the chief islands of Japan) and the Osumi Islands. At its narrowest it is 28.2 km wide, and the maximum depth is 117 m. The strait connects the East China Sea with the Pacific Ocean.
