Colorless or slightly yellow essential oil with minty aroma and taste; soluble in ether, alcohol, and chloroform; derived from leaves and flowering tops of the peppermint plant (Mentha piperita); has high menthol content; used in medicines, flavors, perfumes, and liqueurs. Also known as peppermint oil.
