Okeanologiia

(Oceanology), a scientific journal issued by the Oceanographic Commission of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. The journal was founded in Moscow in 1961 through the efforts of the Soviet biologist and oceanographer L. A. Zen-kevich and appears six times annually. It publishes articles on the physics, chemistry, geology, and biology of the ocean, marine meteorology, and the methodology of observation. Okeanologiia also includes information on noteworthy events in oceanography (symposiums, expeditions) and descriptions of new equipment. Circulation, 1,400 (1974).
