Okmulgee State Park Location: I-40 Exit 240 (Hwy 75) north to Okmulgee, then 7 miles west on Hwy 56. Facilities: 297 campsites (semi-modern and primitive), showers, picnic area, 2 group shelters, trails, boat ramps, fishing dock, swimming areas, playgrounds (é). Activities: Camping, boating, fishing, swimming, water-skiing, hiking. Special Features: Park is located on the shores of Okmulgee Lake and three miles from Dripping Springs State Park. The name Okmulgee comes from a Creek word meaning boiling or bubbling water, referring to a year-round spring found here. Okmulgee has been the capital of the Creek Nation since the Civil War.
