Olana State Historic Site Location: Off Route 9G, 1 mile south of Rip Van Winkle Bridge. Facilities: Picnic area, historic house and gardens, educational programs (é), visitor center (é), gift shop, scenic view, hiking trail. Activities: Guided and self-guided tours, hiking, cross-country skiing. Special Features: Olana is the fanciful Persian-style home and picturesque landscape created by Frederic Edwin Church (1826-1900), one of the most renowned American artists of the Hudson River School. Site encompasses the house, farm, and entire 250-acre estate owned by Church.
