Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort State Historic Park Location: In downtown Las Vegas, at the corner of Washington Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard. Facilities: Visitor center, historic site, exhibits. Activities: Interpretive programs. Special Features: The focus of this park is historic interpretation. The first permanent non-native settlers in the Las Vegas Valley were a group of Mormon missionaries who built an adobe fort along Las Vegas Creek in 1855. Today, the park includes a remnant of the original adobe fort with interpretive displays as well as a full-scale visitor center.
