Olsen, John Charles (1869–1948) chemical engineer, educator; born in Galesburg, Ill. He was on the faculty of the Polytechnic Institute, Brooklyn (1900–14), professor of chemistry at Cooper Union (1914–18), and professor of chemical engineering at the Polytechnic Institute (1918–44). He was a founder of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
