one-tailed test [¦wən ¦tāld ′test]
(statistics)
A statistical test in which the critical region consists of all values of a test statistic that are less than a given value or greater than a given value, but not both. Also known as one-tail test.

It should be noted that, since there is an overwhelming support in the literature that outsourcing helps a firm financially, a one-tailed test was used.
The statistical significance uses a one-tailed test for variables with a predicted sign and a two-tailed test for variables without a predicted sign.
