Windows Live OneCare

A subscription service from Microsoft that provided a one-stop source for protection against malware (viruses, spam, spyware), system maintenance (disk cleanup, defragmentation, etc.) and backup and recovery. The beta program for OneCare, introduced without the Windows Live prefix, was released in 2006 to U.S. subscribers. OneCare was discontinued in 2009 in favor of a free anti-malware suite (see Microsoft Security Essentials).
