Oneonta

Oneonta (ōnēŏn`tə), city (1990 pop. 13,954), Otsego co., E central N.Y., on the Susquehanna River, in a farm area W of the Catskills; settled c.1780, inc. as a city 1909. Oneonta grew after the coming of the railroad in 1865. Mobile medical laboratories and clinics, plastics, laboratory apparatus and glass, and electronic items are produced. The State Univ. of New York College at Oneonta and Hartwick College are there.
