Onomichi

Onomichi (ōnō`mēchē), city (1990 pop. 97,103), Hiroshima prefecture, SW Honshu, Japan, on the Inland Sea. It is a shipping center and the site of several Buddhist temples, notably that of Senko-ji (10th cent.).
Onomichi 

a city and port in Japan, on southern Honshu on the Inland Sea, in Hiroshima Prefecture. Population, 104,000 (1971). There are enterprises of the textile, shipbuilding, motor-building, chemical, and food industries. Salt mines are located in the region. The city’s outer harbor is the port of Itozaki.
