Operating Time, Effective
average accrued operating time of a repairable item between failures (disruptions of its working capacity). If the accrued operating time is expressed in units of time, then the effective operating time means the average time of trouble-free operation. The effective operating time for the period from accrued operating time t1 to accrued operating time t2 is determined by the equality
where mav is the average number of failures (per item) for a certain number of similar articles until accrued operating time ti (i = 1, 2) determined by testing.
