A shipboard gyro-stabilized device or a short-based device which indicates to the pilot his displacement from a preselected glide path.

The classroom was designed to enhance instruction for the interior communications electricians (IC) who maintain and operate the improved fresnel lens optical landing system, the long-range lineup system and landing signal officer (LSO) heads-up display systems.
The pilot then adds power as necessary to maintain glideslope position as indicated on the tower's optical landing system.
