Oranienburg

Oranienburg (ōrä`nyənbrkh), city (1994 pop. 28,320), Brandenburg, NE Germany, on the Havel River. It is a center of a fruit-growing region. Manufactures include chemicals and steel products. Oranienburg was the site of one of the earliest concentration camps concentration camp, a detention site outside the normal prison system created for military or political purposes to confine, terrorize, and, in some cases, kill civilians.
