Oser, Bernard L.

Oser, Bernard L. (Levussove) (1899–  ) biochemist; born in Philadelphia, Pa. He worked as a biochemist for the Jefferson Medical College (1920–21) and the Philadelphia General Hospital (1922–26) before joining the Food and Drug Research Laboratories in 1926 as assistant director of the biology laboratory. He was president of the organization at his retirement (1976), after which he started a consulting firm. His pathbreaking research helped develop concepts of bioavailability, ingredient interactions, and residue tolerances in food.
