Ostenberg, Olger’d Indrikovich 

(in Latvian, Olgerts Ostenbergs). Born Jan. 28, 1925, in Daugavpils. Soviet architect.

Ostenberg studied at the Latvian University in Riga from 1946 to 1951 and at the Leningrad Engineering and Construction Institute from 1955 to 1957. He taught at the Latvian Academy of Art between 1965 and 1971 and has been on the faculty of the Riga Polytechnic Institute since 1969. In Riga he designed the interiors of the Oktobris Motion-picture Theater (1960), the Rota Store (1968), and the Café Leningrad (1973). Ostenberg also designed the memorial ensemble of the monument to the victims of fascist terrorism in Salaspils (with others; concrete; 1961–67; Lenin Prize, 1970), the covered market in Daugavpils (1966), the monument near Salaspils to Soviet prisoners of war who perished (1967–70, concrete), and the Latgiprotorg Institute in Riga (in collaboration with the architect I. Snore, 1967–72).
