osteoblast [′äs·tē·ə‚blast]
(histology) A bone-forming cell of mesenchymal origin. Osteoblast a cell that is involved in bone formation in vertebrate animals and man. Osteoblasts arise during the ossification of skeletal rudiments. In mature bone, they are found only in regions of injury, regeneration, and remodelling.
