The outer or upper zone of the earth's core, extending to a depth of 3160 miles (5100 kilometers), and including the transition zone.

A low compression inner core that removes weight from the centre of the ball delivering more moment of inertia for increased distance and accuracy from the long clubs, and a high compression outer core for imparting huge amounts of spin from the short irons and wedges.
A terrestrial planet even a few times more massive than Earth is more likely to have an entirely solid core, rather than a liquid outer core surrounding a solid center, says Seager.
