AVerMedia was the very first multimedia manufacturer in Taiwan and is the third company in the world to develop a user-affordable video overlay card that could be used in the production of professional broadcast quality video.
Although laser discs deliver high quality video data to the user, they require the addition of an expensive analog video overlay card to a standard personal computer and are not compatible with the Navy's standard multimedia PCs.
For approximately $150 per client, users can add a third-party PC-TV Tuner and overlay card to enable networked computers to display analog video in a window or on an external TV.
