Ozark Plateau National Wildlife Refuge Address: Rt 1 Box 18A Vian, OK 74962 Phone: 918-773-5251; Fax: 918-773-5598; Web: www.fws.gov/southwest/refuges/oklahoma/Ozark Established: 1985; originally known as Oklahoma Bat Caves NWR. Location: Northeastern Oklahoma. Special Features: Refuge protects critical maternity caves for bats as well as other cave-dwelling wildlife including blind cavefish, salamanders, and crayfish. Some of these creatures are only native to Oklahoma and are soemtimes unique to each cave because the caves are isolated from one another. Habitats: 16 tracts totaling 3,067 acres of forested areas with numerous caves. Access: Closed to recreational uses. Wild life: Ozark big-eared bats.
